Phorest & Colourstart collaborate for simpler patch testing

Phorest Salon Software has partnered with Colourstart to enable patch testing against allergic reactions to hair dyes and tints to become a less time consuming process for salons and clients.

Colourstart professional allergy screening is a clinically proven test for allergy to hair colour (PPD) licenced by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). When recorded on Colourstart Passport, clients only need to complete the test once for any hair colour without needing to be retested.

The Colourstart process now officially integrates with Phorest's salon software, which means Phorest users can now match client details against Colourstart's patch test database and check for a  successful patch history. In addition, Colourstart send out automated patch test requests in the event that no patch test history can be found.

Commenting, Cahir Hennessy, Phorest's Senior Product Manager, says:

“We are fully committed to ensuring both the salon and client journey is seamless and we recognise that for many salons, Colourstart is an integral part of that journey. We understand the importance of client safety and data in the salon, and we are therefore delighted to now officially integrate with Colourstart.”

Martin Dick, Technical Lead for Colourstart Passport, adds:

"Phorest recognising customer demand for Colourstart is a significant advancement, highlighting the hairdressing profession's commitment to skin testing. The integration will fully automate day-to-day tasks when operating Colourstart. Therefore, keeping skin testing data in one place, improving their operational efficiency, and ensuring the safety of their customers.”
