Keeping Standards High

In the first of a new column from CIDESCO Ireland, Mary O'Donoghue, who is the current president of the organisation, explains what CIDESCO Ireland is all about, and why it is vital for keeping up standards in the Irish beauty industry.

As this is the first of our CIDESCO Ireland columns in Irish Beauty
magazine, I'd like to take the opportunity to introduce CIDESCO Ireland and the role we play in today's industry

I am the current President of CIDESCO Ireland, following on from my role
of Vice President over the past four years. I have over 30 years' experience in the industry and have contributed to various standard initiatives and development of training. I also have a spa and clinic and an accredited CIDESCO college of my own, so I understand first hand the challenges and opportunities within our industry today. I work with the CIDESCO Ireland Board of Directors, a dedicated and hard-working team to promote CIDESCO Ireland, accredited CIDESCO colleges, and the standard of beauty therapy education in Ireland today

What is CIDESCO?
Since 1946, CIDESCO has been recognised as a professional organisation of the health and beauty industry, representing the CIDESCO accredited colleges, salons and spas worldwide. Each country has its own section, representing its CIDESCO students, graduates and members

CIDESCO's motto is “Connect the Beauty Industry Community.” It is the
worldwide body promoting beauty therapy (esthetics and cosmetology)  and the standard setter for esthetics. It is also the supporter and advisory
board for CIDESCO members and the accredited body for salons, spas, and colleges that meet CIDESCO standards

The CIDESCO diploma and postgraduate diploma is unrivalled as
the marker and standard bearer of real skill and knowledge. Those who want a progressive career in beauty therapy and aesthetics should train in or add on this amazing credential.

CIDESCO Ireland's mission is to advance the spa and beauty industry by providing invaluable educational and networking opportunities, promoting the value of the CIDESCO diploma and the CIDESCO postgraduate diploma holders to employers and industry professionals,
and speaking as the authoritative voice to promote and develop professionalism and the growth of our industry.
