HABIC industry confederation launches

This week saw the launch of HABIC, the Hair and Beauty Industry Confederation Ireland, a not-for-profit organisation committed to representing, supporting, promoting and uniting Ireland's beauty and hair sectors.

The Hair and Beauty industry Ireland is estimated to be worth €2 billion to the economy, and one of the country's fastest growing sectors. However, it faces a skills shortage, and a parallel black market said to be posing a serious threat to the even the most high-profile hair and beauty businesses.

HABIC will be driven by industry experts and skilled practitioners, determined to highlight the contribution the sector is making to the economy, while striving to address the problems posed by lack of recognition and support at official level.
