Data shows key trends in online salon bookings

Nearly half (46%) of treatment appointment bookings take place whilst salons and spas are closed, according to new research.

Data from Phorest Salon Software also shows that 43% of Generation Z (18-24 year olds) expect salons and spas to offer an online booking service, and 36% of millennials (25-34 year olds) wanting to book online via a salon's website.

Hourly booking trends of 5,000 salons and spas were initially analysed by Phorest, followed by a survey of 1,000 salon and spa customers. Data showed that 28% of appointment bookings occur in the evening after salons close, with 18% taking place before salons open in the morning.

Commenting on the research, Ronan Perceval, CEO, Phorest Salon Software, says:

“This is really important information for salon and spa owners, particularly those whose customers are in this younger demographic. Recent research shows millennials are earning more than ever before, and enjoy spending their cash online, so if you're looking to attract these demographics with ever-growing disposable income, it's vital to get online booking live for your salon.

“Your customers have busy days with work and family, and even the 54% of bookings that happen during working hours are taking place on the go, or in busy workplaces. Online booking gives them the option to book an appointment on their time, before they miss out on the last appointment with you and have to go to your competitor.”
